The Department of Industrial and Operations Engineering (IOE) at the University of Michigan College of Engineering is seeking applications for two Lecturers to co-teach a Practicum in Hospital Systems course during the Fall 2025 semester.
Teach a course on Practicum in Hospital Systems, guiding project teams as they address real-world problems for hospital clients and develop skills in technical communication, data analysis, lean methodologies, operations research, project management, and professional ethics.
Oversee, evaluate, and provide feedback on student projects, with support from faculty and external mentors where applicable.
Attend all course meetings and provide in-person instruction on the Ann Arbor campus.
Hold regular office hours and handle routine instructional duties and student communications.
Ensure course objectives, prerequisites, and credit exclusions are communicated and upheld.
Utilize resources from the Center for Research on Learning & Teaching to support excellent teaching.

PhD degree in Chemistry, Physics, Engineering, or related discipline or equivalent years teaching courses at the college level.
Demonstrated teaching effectiveness as evidenced by evaluations or other relevant metrics.
Commitment to inclusive classroom practices, academic excellence, and student success.
Familiarity with the administrative tasks associated with teaching at the college level.
Strong oral presentation and communication skills.
Ability to teach courses in Industrial and Operations Engineering.
Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas.
This position is posted for the Fall 2025 term for two Lecturers to co-teach at 20% effort (8 hours per week) each.
This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the Lecturers Employee Organization, AFL-CIO, which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours and other terms and conditions of employment.
