Licensed Clinical Psychologist or LMFT Clinical Supervisor - Community Counseling Services

Basic Function:

California Lutheran University (CLU) Community Counseling Services (CCS) clinics provide therapy to children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. We operate one of the largest university-based, low-fee community counseling clinics in California, providing over 10,000 low fee therapy sessions each year, primarily to Ventura County and Western LA county residents. All of our therapy sessions are provided by Master's and Doctoral students who are supervised by licensed clinicians from various disciplines (LMFT, PsyD, PhD, LPPC, LCSW) approved by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences or California Board of Psychology. CCS provides therapy services in Spanish and English.

Reporting to the Director of Community Counseling Services (CCS), Clinical Supervisors provide individual and/or group clinical supervision to MFT interns and graduate student trainees enrolled in Cal Lutheran's MFT and PsyD programs. Supervisors play an integral role in facilitating trainee growth and are a critical part of the CCS team. Supervisors meet as a group twice-monthly with the Clinic Director to consult on cases, discuss supervision, and aid CCS clients in receiving high-quality care. All therapy sessions at CCS are digitally recorded, and supervisors utilize the video recordings as part of their supervision process with trainees. Notes are kept in Titanium, and supervisors review and sign off on all student notes.

Supervisors may choose to work with students and provide supervision in either the Westlake Village clinic, Oxnard clinic, or both. Some virtual supervision may be permitted as long as the state licensure board continues to approve this format.
