Limited Term Adjunct Instructor - NCI
The University of Arizona National Center for Interpretation is currently hiring for Instructor(s) for Portuguese Online Translation course(s). The position requires teaching asynchronous translation courses. Courses are 16 weeks long with weekly assignments and are part of a three-course certificate sequence (i.e., Business, Medical and Legal Translation). The successful candidate will not be responsible for the design of teaching materials, which are provided by NCI.

Duties & Responsibilities
- Hold weekly office hours and post times online and on the syllabus
- Make sure dates on the syllabus and on the online platform (D2L) are updated and correct
- Review D2L content for errors or missing links
- Monitor and grade (P/F) online discussions and intervene as needed (e.g., when students need help, concepts are unclear)
- Answer student emails and communicate regularly with students, and offer support for their learning
- Update curriculum and course materials as needed
- Grade assignments, post grades and offer feedback in a timely fashion (7-10 days after assignment is due)
- Communicate and/or meet with program director and UA (NCI, CaPE) staff as needed
- Provide feedback to program director on the course/s as needed
- Additional duties as required by supervisor
Minimum Qualifications
- Degree in Translation, Portuguese or related field
- Professional translation experience
- Native or near native fluency in Portuguese
Preferred Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in teaching
- Two years of college teaching experience
- Advanced degree in Translation, Portuguese or related field
- Professional certification (e.g. ATA)
