About the Department

Occupations in computer science and engineering are growing at an exponential rate. The Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Georgia State University’s Perimeter College is committed to preparing students for careers in these critically important arenas.

Position Description

The selected candidate will be responsible for teaching at least 18 credit hours of engineering courses per semester, maintaining at least 8 office hours per week, and adhering to all College and departmental policies, practices, and deliverables.

Compensation: $26,675 per semester (Fall, Spring), with Master’s degree
$29,250 per semester (Fall, Spring), with Doctoral degree

Required Experience

Experience teaching high school or collegiate engineering courses as a graduate teaching assistant or primary instructor OR at least two years of professional experiences.

Required Education

To qualify to teach ENGINEERING courses, applicants MUST have:

A minimum of a Master’s degree in any Engineering field (completed by the date of appointment) or a minimum of a Master’s degree with at least 18 semester or 27 quarter graduate credit hours in engineering coursework (completed by the anticipated date of appointment) is required.

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

  • Experience teaching a variety of undergraduate college-level engineering courses
  • Experience engaging with and teaching a diverse student population as found at Perimeter College’s open-access institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to teach ENGINEERING courses on the collegiate level
  • Ability to teach effectively using a variety of methods
  • Ability to relate to a diverse student population and facilitate student learning
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of instructional technology

Description of Job Duty

The Limited Term Instructor of Engineering job duties will include:

  • Providing 18 semester hours of instruction per semester
  • Maintaining at least 8 office hours per week
  • Working effectively, collaboratively, and professionally with faculty, staff, and students
  • Connecting students with institutional resources to promote student success and progression
