The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a General Maintenance Technician in the Laundry Department. This role will work independently under the supervision of the Director.

Job Responsibilities:

The Citadel, The Military College of South Carolina is seeking a General Maintenance Technician in the Laundry Department. This role will work independently under the supervision of the Director and be responsible for the following:

• Operates and maintains all equipment in The Citadel Dry-Cleaning and Laundry plant. Treats garments for spots and other special needs.
• Drives departmental vehicles; picks-up laundry from barracks and other locations on campus.
• Diagnoses problems and repairs washers, dryers, presses, irons, and dry-cleaning equipment; keeps Director abreast of equipment performance and maintenance issues.
• Conducts routine inspections to ensure employees follow proper operating, maintenance and safety procedures.
• Collaborates with equipment manufacturer representatives to troubleshoot issues and order parts.
• Keeps equipment maintenance records.
• Performs other basic facility maintenance to include; painting, minor electrical, minor carpenter, minor plumbing work.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma and facility or equipment maintenance experience. Skills in making emergency and general repairs and adjustments to equipment. Skills in the use of tools and supplies used to maintain equipment and facilities. Ability to comprehend equipment specifications. Ability to understand and follow instructions. Knowledge of safety practices relevant to equipment maintenance and repairs. Ability to perform heavy manual labor. Must be able to lift up to (50) fifty lbs., stand, squat, bend, push, and pull. Ability to communicate effectively and keep accurate records. Ability to use judgement and initiative to complete routine work without constant supervision. Occasional weekend work primarily at the beginning of the school year. Occasional travel to conferences/training sessions. Opens/closes plant. SC Driver's License required.
