St. Catherine University and the Department of Institutional Advancement invites applications for a full-time Major Gifts Officer position.
As a member of the St. Catherine University Development and Alumni Relations staff, the Major Gifts Officer is responsible for building relationships and closing gifts with individuals and families, corporations, and foundations.
The Major Gifts Officer raises commitments, major gifts, grants, and sponsorships at the $10K level and above, which contribute to the achievement of the University's major gifts goals each year. The Major Gifts Officer serves as an ambassador of the University with all external audiences.
Responsibilities Include:
- Conduct face-to-face meetings (10/month average) with donor/prospects to advance their movement in the development cycle. Meetings will include identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donor/prospects.
- Manage a portfolio of prospects including individuals and families, corporations, and foundations as determined at the discretion of supervisor.
- Cultivate donors through engagement with the University's events and activities and/or meaningful volunteer roles.
- Solicit commitments, major gifts, grants, and sponsorships. In the process, present illustrations and educate donors about creative gift plan alternatives.
- Steward relationships with donors through intentional measures including regular communication and engagement in stewardship events.
- Create moves management plan for each assigned donor/prospect
- Document contact reports following interactions with donors, prospects.
- Attend department, division and other campus meetings as relevant to position.
- Participate in strategy for and execution of special events.
- Fourteen (14) paid holidays and paid "gift" days when the University is closed.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree
- Demonstrated capacity in cultivating, soliciting and closing major gifts to achieve goals.
- Demonstrated success in working as a member of a team and developing effective working relationships with staff, volunteers, donors and others.
- Demonstrated competency in writing and interpersonal communication.
- Confidentiality regarding donor records.
- Competency with relational databases, Microsoft Office products, electronic donor information and tracking systems.
- Graduate of St. Catherine University
- Major Gifts Officer experience
- Fundraising experience in higher education
- Demonstrated campaign experience and results
- Knowledge of the Twin Cities, Minnesota, regional or national philanthropic communities

Compensation: Salary range of $70,000 - $90,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
