Responsibilities:
Facilities Management is seeking a Manager, Structural Maintenance to provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of campus structural maintenance. Specific responsibilities include:
- Manages and provides planning and operational direction to support the proper upkeep and maintenance of university facilities, both interior and exterior, finishes, doors, foundations, facades, roofs, elevators, pavement, sidewalks and stairs, and signage. Provides daily oversight of all structural maintenance shops.
- Manages and provides direction and guidance to staff and contractors performing structural maintenance projects. Oversees the proper utilization of the department's On-Call contracts in accordance with the State and UMBC's procurement policies. Oversees the proper utilization of contracts procured outside of the established On-Call contracts.
- Reviews Architecture & Engineering designs for new construction as well as renovation projects for compliance with Facilities Management's design standards. Provides recommendations and assists with value engineering efforts.
- Develops, oversees and tracks inspection programs for each structural maintenance shop to ensure maintenance needs are identified and tracked to completion. Ensures inspection processes are comprehensive in scope and performed efficiently.
- Proactively communicates with campus constituents to ensure work is properly coordinated to minimize disruption. Provides advanced notice of pending work and timely updates to campus stakeholders. Works with stakeholders to find solutions to conflicts acceptable to all stakeholders.
- Develops scopes of work and cost estimates for time, labor, and materials appropriate to each assigned project. Prepares contractual specifications for construction, renovation, or renovation work to be done by outside contractors.
- Performs estimates of time, labor, and materials to be used on assigned projects. Participates in departmental planning to develop budgets, review priorities and assign work.
Required Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in a related field
- 10 years of operational experience in facilities management with at least 5 years at a management/leadership level
- Class C Driver's License valid in the State of Maryland
- Must be able to walk and stand for long periods of time while inspecting job sites on campus.
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
Note: Additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge skills and abilities required may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 college credits being equivalent to one year of experience.
Salary:
$94,175 to $106,200 depending on qualifications and experience. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, budget, prior experience, skills, knowledge, abilities, education, licensure and certifications, and other business considerations. The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
