This call offers one (1) position within the scope of the project WOLF|IB - Developing cutting-edge molecular tools to assess how hybridization impacts Iberian wolf adaptation to human-dominated landscapes (Ref. WOLF-IB2026-2), to conduct molecular work and population genetic and genomic analyses at the Vairão Campus, (Vila do Conde, Porto), and to support the scientific and technical implementation of the WOLF|IB project.

Skills/Qualifications
The competition is open to Portuguese nationals, foreign citizens and stateless persons holding a Master's degree in Biological Sciences and having a scientific and professional curriculum vitae that reveals an appropriate profile for the activity to be carried out.
Candidates holding academic degrees awarded by foreign higher education institutions must provide proof of recognition, equivalence or registration of the degree, under the terms of Decree-Law No. 66/2018 of 16 August, by the date of signature of the employment contract.
Specific Requirements
- Demonstrated experience in genetic and genomic studies of wolves or other carnivores will be highly valued;
- Proven experience with DNA-based molecular techniques, including DNA extraction, amplification, quality assessment, and library preparation;
- Hands-on experience in processing non-invasive or other low-quality DNA samples;
- Experience in the development, optimization, and application of molecular markers, including SNP panel design, probe design, multiplex genotyping, or targeted sequencing approaches;
- Demonstrated expertise in genomics and population genomics, including microsatellite genotyping, whole-genome sequencing and SNP-based analyses;
- Experience in population genetic and genomic analyses, including the assessment of population structure, differentiation, ancestry, and admixture;
- Experience in the processing and analysis of high-throughput sequencing data, including read quality control, mapping, variant calling, genotype filtering, and dataset integration;
- Programming or scripting skills in R, Python, or related languages, and familiarity with Linux-based environments for data analysis and workflow automation;
- Experience contributing to scientific publications, technical reports, or project deliverables;
- Ability to organize work independently, troubleshoot laboratory and analytical procedures, and meet project deadlines;
- Good written and spoken English and the ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary research environment;
- Previous involvement in applied conservation projects, particularly projects involving collaboration with management agencies, policymakers, or other stakeholders, will be valued.
