Mathematics & Statistics (Asst Professor)
Job Description
Teach a variety of lower- and upper-level mathematics courses primarily in an in-person format. Instruct courses in varied locations, at varied times, and via various media commensurate with department and university needs. Engage in scholarly research or creative achievement to enhance the knowledge of mathematics. Provide evidence of continuing preparation and study in the field of mathematics to enhance teaching abilities. Contribute to student growth and development including student advising. Provide service to the university and community including the program, the department, the college, the university, and the greater community. Support Winona State University's mission to enhance the intellectual, social, cultural, and economic vitality of the people and communities we serve. Teach mathematics courses using modern curriculum and innovative methods (e.g. project-based learning, inquiry-based learning, discovery learning, mastery grading, tactile activities, flipped classrooms, etc.) Contribute to the continued improvement of the curriculum in mathematics. Supervise student research projects in mathematics.
Salary Range
$64,963 - $186,620; Commensurate with Rank, Qualifications and Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Ph.D in Mathematics with an anticipated completion date before August 2026. Experience teaching an undergraduate mathematics course as the primary instructor or as a teaching assistant.

Skills/ability to integrate technology to enhance learning and teaching. Demonstrated commitment to quality teaching. Demonstrated commitment to fostering a diverse working and learning environment. Demonstrated excellence in the teaching of mathematics at the undergraduate level as the primary instructor. Evidence of a commitment to continually improve the mathematics curriculum. Evidence of commitment to community outreach, e.g. recruiting students and promoting the discipline of mathematics. Demonstrated ability to lead undergraduate student research projects in mathematics. Experience/Expertise in one or more of the following areas: algebra, analysis, or geometry/topology. Evidence of strong communication skills. Demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with colleagues.
