"Medical Librarian, Knoxville"

Job Description

The Medical Librarian shall be responsible for providing reference assistance, collection development, and library instruction at the LMU-West Knoxville site for the programs of Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, and as needed for Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies and any other programs offered at that site.

Required Qualifications

M.L.S. from an ALA accredited program; knowledge of software and technology used to perform office, administrative and instructional functions such as Microsoft Office applications; some experience in an academic/medical/health sciences library

Preferred Qualifications

two years experience in an academic/medical/health sciences library; Academy of Health Information Professionals (AHIP) credential or provisional membership; additional advanced degree in an area relevant to LMUs programs

Job Duties

• Promote the mission of Lincoln Memorial University to all faculty, staff, students, and to the community at large
• promote effective working relationships among faculty, staff, and students
• provide reference assistance and library instruction at the LMU-West Knoxville site for the programs of Occupational Therapy, and Physical Therapy, and as needed with Osteopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant Studies and any other programs offered at that site
• provide collection development for Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy and other health sciences programs as needed
• provide reference service for students and faculty using face-to-face models, telephone, e-mail, and chat
• assist with creating and/or updating video tutorials and health sciences library guides as needed
• market LMU-West Knoxville library services and the mission of LMU to the patrons of the library and to the academic community at large
• perform other duties as assigned
• maintain strict confidentiality regarding library patron records and other University matters.
• Participate in professional development.
