Reference, Instruction, and Web Services Librarian
Job Description
The Reference, Instruction, & Web Services Librarian shall be responsible for providing reference assistance, collection development, and library instruction in support of the students and faculty of Nursing and the Physician Assistant Studies program at the Tampa, FL location. Consult with the Library Director and the Head of Health Sciences Library Services about programmatic needs specific to the Tampa site. Manage the operations of the Tampa library site. Provide leadership for the Carnegie-Vincent Library and Reed Health Sciences Library websites and web presence.
Required Qualifications
ALA accredited Masters in Library Science or equivalent; excellent computer skills.
Preferred Qualifications
One year subject knowledge or experience relevant to health or life sciences; *knowledge of SpringShare or similar library software; *Academy of Health Information Professionals credentials or provisional membership; *additional advanced degree; *experience with website maintenance and support; *experience with Springshares LibGuides; *experience with social media management.
Job Duties
- provide reference assistance, collection development, and library instruction for Nursing, Physician Assistant Studies, and for other programs as added to the offerings at the Tampa site
- provide chat and email reference for Tampa and for other LMU library users
- work with a team of librarians to maintain the innovative integration of instructional technologies and electronic instructional resources including web-based tutorials and online library guides (e.g., LibGuides
- lead a team of librarians in the design and operational support for the Carnegie-Vincent Library and Reed Health Sciences Library websites and the library s web presence (e.g., Springshare products, social media)
- establishes goals and priorities for the library s overall web presence in the support of the libraries learning goals
- evaluates and improves discoverability and usability of library s overall web presence
- participate in faculty and student library and technology workshops
- remain abreast of current or relevant professional developments as related to LMU instruction and library services
- participate in departmental planning and decision-making and implementation of library and departmental policies
- educate patrons of the library and the academic community at large about library services and the mission of LMU
- participate in creating required institutional, program accreditation, and other reports necessary for the operation and advancement of university programs, both on campus and at off-campus sites
- participate in library resources access projects
- perform other duties as assigned
- maintain strict confidentiality regarding library patron records and other University matters
