The Southeast Regional Professional Development Center (RPDC) has been housed on the campus of Southeast Missouri State University since 1996. The Center serves approximately 84 school districts in the southeast region. RPDC personnel provide training programs for the teachers and administrators throughout the area on a continuous basis.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Support DESE in developing strong leaders who build successful school communities
  • Help review and update MLDS content to improve leadership development statewide
  • Assist with onboarding new team members in system content, adult learning, and facilitation skills
  • Deliver professional learning and technical support to principals, districts, schools, and educator programs based on MLDS competencies
  • Participate in required DESE program evaluations
  • Support the regional and state Teacher of the Year program as needed
  • Help collect and report data on participation, effectiveness, and impact of MLDS learning
  • Provide regional support to recognize highly effective educators
  • Assist in strengthening principals' instructional leadership skills
  • Support new leaders and interns through induction
  • Help facilitate learning and support for principals in targeted or comprehensive intervention settings and other MLDS initiatives
  • Contribute to activities that support MLDS implementation, outreach, and evaluation
  • Participate in team meetings and learning across all MLDS levels
  • Present at partner conferences and meetings as appropriate
  • Travel within the region as needed and attend statewide meetings and conferences (in-person or virtual)

Required Qualifications

  • Masters' degree in educational administration or closely related field
  • Appropriate administrative certification as a building principal
  • Three (3) years of experience as an acting building principal (Experience as a lead or assistant principal is acceptable)
  • Demonstrated capacity to effectively facilitate adult learning through multiple mediums
  • Ability to collaborate, advocate, and contribute to sustaining the MLDS
  • Ability to share the benefit of their experience as it relates to the needs of the principals served by the MLDS
  • Ability to express complex ideas to a variety of audiences clearly and concisely both orally and in writing
  • Ability to manage diverse activities and meet established deadlines
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport and effective working relationships with department staff, local school local education agency (LEA) personnel, families, and community programs
  • Ability to analyze complex educational problems and develop feasible solutions
  • Ability and means to travel in the state of Missouri on a regular basis
