Job Summary

The AvatarZOO project investigates learning with emerging technologies involving extended reality, focusing on how, when, why, and who benefits from these technologies. The goal is to develop evidence-based knowledge to enhance learning effectiveness, guide instructional designers, integrate lessons for teachers, and define targeted learning outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to an innovative research environment by creating and optimizing 3D models using AI and serious game design for applications in Web and XR.
• Custom animate models to support human and animal movement patterns and simulate clinical procedures.
• Translate research innovations into visual patterns that support education.
• Learn about current topics in educational research and innovation.
• Manage and version models across various projects.

Qualifications and Requirements

• Master's degree in 3D modelling, game design, or human-computer interactions, with knowledge of virtual/extended reality.
• Expertise in modelling and animation in Blender, including texturing and optimizing models for downstream applications.
• Up-to-date knowledge of research in AI and serious gaming.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills, sensitivity to the environment, advisory skills, and persuasiveness.
• Enjoy working in a multidisciplinary team, developing new ideas and collaborations, with a development-oriented style.
• Excellent command of Dutch and English, both spoken and written.

What the Employer Offers

• Employment contract for 12 months with prospect of permanent contract.
• Working week of 24-32 hours.
• Gross monthly salary between €3,382 and €4,484 for full-time employment (salary scale 8 under the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities).
