Description of Position:
The Music Department at Contra Costa Community College is accepting applications for an Adjunct Faculty (part time). This is a temporary assignment that begins in August 2026.
The teaching assignment will be teaching classical choir and/or jazz choir and/or violin lessons and/or studio recording.
The Music Department is a small, conservatory style program that focuses on transfer-level performance while working with underserved communities.
The student population of Contra Costa College (CCC) reflects its surrounding diverse communities. Duties and Responsibilities:
Adjunct Faculty duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines and class schedules;
- creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
- evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grades student work;
- meeting with students outside of class;
- maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
- maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
- fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
- maintaining accurate academic records;
- performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualification-Education/Experience:
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff and faculty.
EDUCATION Master's in music OR Bachelor's in music AND Master's in humanities OR the equivalent
