Neuroimmunology and Multiple Sclerosis - HS Clinical Professor and Clinical Neurology Series
The Department of Neurology at the University of California, Irvine seeks an outstanding, fellowship-trained Neurologist in the field of Neuroimmunology/Multiple Sclerosis to take a leadership role in developing the clinical service for patients with MS and other neuroimmunological disorders, clinical research, and trials.
The candidate will join an active clinical and research program designated by the National Multiple Sclerosis Society as a 'Comprehensive Multiple Sclerosis Care Center' and a 'Collaborative Multiple Sclerosis Research Center'.
Preference will be given to candidates with experience working in a collaborative, multidisciplinary neurosciences center and those with experience in international, national, or regional professional societies. Candidates with a background in teaching and/or involvement in clinical research or clinical trials are highly valued.
Candidates must hold an M.D., M.D./Ph.D., or equivalent degree with active board certification or eligibility in Neurology and clinical fellowship training in Multiple Sclerosis/Neuroimmunology.
The position is offered in the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series or Clinical Neurology series at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor rank commensurate with experience.
Criteria for the Health Sciences Clinical Professor Series: The successful candidate will teach fellows, residents, and medical students, provide patient care, participate in scholarly activities, and contribute to both University and community service.
Criteria for the Professor of Clinical Neurology Series: The successful candidate will conduct significant research, deliver high-quality patient care, teach fellows, residents, and medical students, and contribute to University and public service. Exceptional teaching skills are required.
The Multiple Sclerosis clinic is on the campus of the University of California, Irvine and is the only academic MS program serving the approximately 3 million people in the Orange County area. The candidate is expected to develop a robust clinical practice with significant activity in clinical trials and involvement in medical student education and residency training programs.
