The Opportunity

Nexus Fellows are academic staff dedicated to educational excellence and the student experience at UNSW. Those who are appointed to this prestigious role will be expected to lead and influence colleagues to successfully drive educational excellence and adoption of new educational practices at the university through collaboration with the Pro Vice Chancellor Education & Student Experience portfolio.

The Nexus Program is an innovative and ambitious program, running since 2024, which is now in its final year. This program provides opportunities for Academic and Professional staff from across the University to work together on new approaches to providing our students with an outstanding educational experience whilst being embedded in a specific school.

The focus of this position will be on the implementation and evaluation of innovations, where the incumbent will be primarily working on an implementation and evaluation framework for the Medicine program re-design.

Key skills and experience required:

Level B

  • A PhD in Higher Education in healthcare or a related discipline, and/or relevant work experience.
  • Evidence of highly developed interpersonal and organisational skills, including the ability to influence others and drive change.
  • Demonstrated experience in teaching and learning design, development, delivery and evaluation at undergraduate and/or postgraduate level.
  • Experience using/designing with artificial intelligence and/or educational technologies and online delivery methods to improve teaching delivery, assessment and/or feedback practices Evidence of teaching effectiveness and passion for educational excellence (e.g., relevant discipline- based curriculum design and development at a variety of levels and scales).
  • Demonstrated capacity to contribute to SoTL.
  • Proven commitment to proactively keeping up to date with discipline knowledge and developments.

Level C (in addition to the above)

  • Demonstrated track record in the scholarship of teaching and learning with outcomes of high quality and high impact with clear evidence of the desire and ability to continually achieve excellence as well as the capacity for leadership.
  • Leadership roles in School, Faculty, university or specialty College level curriculum, academic development or student teams, either permanently or on secondment.
