Noncredit Instructor/Trainer - SHRM CP-SCP Exam Prep and Essentials - Cape Cod Community College
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Our instructors/trainers are experienced educators with in-depth knowledge in their subject matter field, deeply committed to providing exceptional student support and exhibiting strong organizational and communication skills. CCAPE's clients/students trust our instructors/trainers with sensitive information, and our instructors/trainers have the highest level of integrity in all interactions, including respecting client organizational cultures and climates. Our training programs and course opportunities are contract-based and/or subject to enrollment.
CCAPE is seeking an instructor to teach a noncredit hybrid (remote using Zoom and online) SHRM CP Exam Prep and SHRM Essentials course once a semester.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES
- Work and communicate cooperatively with clients, students, and college staff.
- Create syllabus/class outline with the ability to customize class content based on student need.
- Review and update course syllabus on a regular basis.
- Provide instruction of SHRM CP Exam Preparation and SHRM Essentials course.
- Use formative and summative assessment techniques to improve learning and teaching.
- Create an effective learning environment and use teaching methods designed for a variety of learning styles.
- Facilitate an engaging, inclusive, and supportive learning environment using adult learning principles.
- Evaluate student progress and provide feedback aligned with course outcomes and SHRM exam preparation standards.
- Take attendance, ensuring all students are accounted for and properly sign-in for each session.
- Be prepared to make reasonable accommodations for students should their needs or circumstances change, including but not limited to converting classwork to self-study assignments, switching from in person to virtual learning, peer tutoring, student support services and more.
- Ensure all students participate in an evaluation form at the end of the course/training program.
- Maintain accurate course records, attendance, and evaluation data in accordance with CCAPE reporting and SHRM affiliate requirements.
- Maintain client, student, instructor, and staff confidentiality.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of related industry experience, certification, and training.
- SHRM certified with at least 10 years HR experience, preferably at a senior level.
- Advanced knowledge of human resource management.
- Ability to facilitate courses in various delivery modes (in-person, remote, hybrid, or asynchronous) and adjust content for working adult learners.
- Teaching or training experience preferred with an understanding of effective teaching methodologies and tools.
- Willingness to embrace and adopt new learning technologies and techniques.
- Comfortable using digital learning tools, online HR resources, and virtual classroom technologies (e.g., Zoom, Moodle, SHRM Learning System).
- Demonstrated commitment to remaining current in emerging trends, topics and new research in subject matter area(s) of expertise.
- Effective oral and written communication skills, decision-making, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
- Ability to adapt and respond to changing work situations and environments in a positive manner.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging through teaching, training, or professional practice, including experience working effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and perspectives.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
COMPENSATION: Part-time, up to 18 hours per week, project-based/contract position. Pay rate of $65 per hour of instruction with one-time stipend of $1,000 to prepare for SHRM instruction of SHRM CP and Essentials courses. Non-benefited, non-unit position.
