Description
Pratt Institute's Office of Legal Affairs Internship/Externship position offers a law school student with a part-time opportunity to gain practical experience in higher education, non-profits, and arts administration. In addition to building their professional skills, the intern will have educational and networking opportunities unique to Pratt Institute. The intern will work closely with Pratt's in-house attorneys and other experienced professionals.
This position is unpaid. Candidates must be eligible to receive academic credit for the internship through their law school and Pratt will assist the intern as reasonably required by their law school in order to secure academic credit for the internship/externship. The intern may work a hybrid schedule but will be expected to be on-campus at least one day per week.
Examples of Duties
- Attend webinars and other educational sessions regarding the practice of higher education law
- Review and draft contracts, particularly related to campus facilities and maintenance
- Assist in-house counsel with legal research
- Other tasks as assigned that contribute to the intern's education and professional growth
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Must be enrolled as a law school student entering 2L year or above
- Must have completed introductory coursework in contract law
- Must be available to work 8-16 hours a week during semester
- Interest in higher education, arts, and non-profit legal services
- Professional conduct in accordance with Pratt's values and policies
