Job Summary:

The Violence Prevention Specialist/Care Coordinator (Nurse, MSW, LSW, LCSW) will serve several roles for the Comprehensive Hospital-Based Adolescent Violence Assessment and Treatment at Children's Hospital Colorado (CHAVAT@CHCO). This is a full-time (1.0 FTE) grant-funded position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate patients interfacing with the CHAVAT, including reviewing charts for eligibility for the program, providing outreach to families, and coordinating intakes.
  • Conduct assessments and provide brief motivational interviewing interventions for youth at risk for are having already perpetrating violence.
  • Conduct MI-focused interventions focusing on ways to reduce both violence perpetration, gun carrying, and gun violence in the outpatient setting.
  • Communicate treatment plans to the other behavioral health specialists involved in the CHAVAT as well as coordinate appointments with youth and their families.
  • Coordinate wrap-around services, setting up appointments between youth identified in the emergency department or hospital setting for outpatient management.
  • Participate in the care of approximately 100 clients annually.
  • Other activities as deemed necessary by the supervisor.

Work Location:

Onsite - this role is expected to work onsite and is located in Aurora, CO.

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in social work or a directly related field.
  • At least two (2) years of clinical experience working with adolescents and families.
  • Licensed Social Worker (LSW).

Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.

Conditions of Employment:

  • Must successfully pass a drug test through Children's Hospital Colorado.
  • Must be willing and able to pass a national criminal background check.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license.
  • Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW).
  • Ideally, but not limited to, at least 3 years of experience working with at-risk adolescents and young adults (substance use, juvenile justice, violence prevention).
  • Proficient in Motivational Interviewing skills.
  • Experience with trauma-informed care.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Counseling skills.
  • Efficient with organizational skills and basic computer skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to work with a team of healthcare providers.

Anticipated Pay Range:

The hiring range for this position has been established as $66,536 to $84,634.

The above hiring range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. This position may be eligible for overtime compensation, depending on the level.
