Job Summary
The Section of Pediatric Allergy and Immunology of the University of Colorado School of Medicine (CU SOM) is looking for a Board Certified or Board Eligible (BC/BE) Pediatric Allergist for a faculty position based in the Children's Hospital Colorado - Colorado Springs outpatient clinic. Primary responsibilities will include comprehensive outpatient evaluation and management of patients with pediatric allergy and immunology conditions. While this position in Colorado Springs is primarily clinical, candidates with academic interests will have teaching and quality improvement opportunities.
A candidate who is more academically inclined to pursue teaching or research opportunities would be suited for the Assistant Professor ranking while a candidate with only a clinical interest would be better suited for the Instructor ranking. Compensation is dependent on clinical productivity and years of experience.
Key Responsibilities
The position is located in Colorado Springs and will provide oversight and direct care for patients with pediatric allergy and immunology conditions in the outpatient setting.
The duties and responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to:
Direct Patient Care
- Conduct comprehensive allergy and immunology evaluations for pediatric patients. Diagnose and manage conditions such as allergic rhinitis, asthma, atopic dermatitis, food allergies, drug allergies, eosinophilic esophagitis, urticaria and angioedema, anaphylaxis, primary immunodeficiency disorders
- Document clinical encounters clearly and thoroughly in the electronic medical record. Review and interpret lab results, imaging, and specialty test results relevant to allergy and immunology.
Coordination and Collaboration
- Coordinate care with primary care providers, pulmonologists, gastroenterologists, and other specialists. Collaborate with clinical staff to optimize patient flow and clinic efficiency. Respond to clinical messages and patient portal inquiries in a timely manner.
Education and Quality Improvement
- Educate families and caregivers on chronic disease self-management. Stay current with evolving guidelines and evidence-based practices. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Attend and contribute to department meetings, CME or case conferences when applicable

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
This is an open rank position and could be categorized as Instructor, Senior Instructor, or Assistant Professor, based on candidate preference, experience and qualifications as indicated below:
Instructor
- MD or DO Degree
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency
- Completion of an ACGME-accredited Allergy and Immunology fellowship by hire date
- Board certification in General Pediatrics by the American Board of Pediatrics (ABP)
- Board certification or board eligibility in Allergy and Immunology by the American Board of Allergy and Immunology (ABAI)
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous Epic experience
- Two or more years of clinical experience providing outpatient allergy and immunology care to pediatric patients across a broad range of conditions
- Demonstrated proficiency in outpatient procedures such as skin testing, drug challenges, and immunotherapy initiation
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
- Knowledge of all pediatric allergy and immunology disorders
- Excellent communications skills with children, families, and referring providers
- Strong interest in working with multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with primary care and pediatric subspecialists
- Commitment to patient education, family-centered care, and evidence-based practice
- Interest or experience in quality improvement and medical student, resident, or fellow education

Anticipated Pay Range
HIRING RANGE:
- Instructor: $186,290 to $280,000
- Senior Instructor: $210,000 to $280,000
- Assistant Professor: $186,290 to $210,000
Compensation dependent on clinical productivity and years of experience. Eligible for annual clinical incentive based on clinical productivity.
