The Department of Neurology at the University of Washington School of Medicine in Seattle is hiring a pediatric epileptologist to join the Division of Pediatric Neurology at Seattle Children’s Hospital. This position will include EEG reading, epilepsy consultations, and outpatient clinics. Responsibilities will also include shared supervision of adult and pediatric neurology residents. Positive factors for consideration include, but are not limited to, experience in epilepsy surgery, neuromodulation or ICU neuromonitoring.
The Pediatric Neurology Division at Seattle Children’s Hospital provides comprehensive treatment and diagnostic services for children in the WWAMI (Washington, Wyoming, Alaska, Montana and Idaho) region. Seattle Children’s is a 364 bed hospital with 44 PICU, 32 NICU and 20 Cardiothoracic ICU beds. The Division of Neurology currently includes 30 faculty members with a range of specialty interests who lead multiple subspecialty programs. We have an inpatient Epilepsy Monitoring Unit which is part of a well-established Epilepsy Surgery program. The Division is supported by 10 Advanced Practice Nurses, ketogenic dieticians, and research coordinators. Faculty are involved in clinical and preclinical local and multi-center research studies. University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.
This is a full-time appointment and is Open rank (without tenure for reasons due to funding). The rank is commensurate with qualification and experience.
Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for this position in this title will be $18,885 - $19,874 per month ($226,620 to $238,488 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Associate and Full Professors hold indefinite appointments that align with a 12-month service period (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month service periods are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July-June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid time off. The base salary range for the Associate Professor title will be $21,343 - $22,554 ($256,116 to $270,648 per year) and the base salary range for the Professor title will be $24,512 - $26,225 per month ($294,144 to $314,700 per year), commensurate with experience, discipline, and qualifications, or as mandated by a U.S. Department of Labor prevailing wage determination.
Our salaries are bench marked based on the AAMC scale. Other compensation associated with this position may or may not include Startup, Relocation Incentive/Moving Allowance Administrative supplement for a defined administrative role, or Productivity Incentive.
Title, rank and salary is commensurate with experience. The anticipated start date of this appointment is July 1, 2026.
Qualifications
Requirements include:
M.D., D.O., or foreign equivalent degree, eligibility for medical licensure in the State of Washington, certification or eligibility for certification by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology in Neurology with Special Qualification in Child Neurology as well as in either
Clinical Neurophysiology or
Epilepsy.
In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE), or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
