About the Role

The Centre for Mental Health and Brain Sciences at Swinburne University is seeking an experienced and highly organised Operations Manager to play a pivotal role in managing the delivery of the Centre’s outcomes.

In this role, you will undertake a range of significant research-related and consultative activities and be responsible for the administrative operation of the Centre. This includes overseeing the financial management and administration of research and consultative projects, supporting research staff with the preparation of research project budgets and reports, and ensuring compliance with internal and external requirements.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, School Operations, and working alongside the Director of the Centre of Mental Health and Brain Sciences, you will provide a wide range of support as determined by funding bodies or external parties and collaborate with other Research Support teams across the University to ensure consistent, high?quality administrative practices.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate, liaise and work with people at all levels, both internal and external to the University with tact, maturity, and appreciation of sensitive issues.
  • Well-developed analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills, including the ability to interpret and effectively communicate policies, strategies, and procedures within a complex environment.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, along with the ability to prioritise activities, manage competing priorities respond to ad hoc and time critical requests while meeting deadlines.
  • Excellent written communication skills, including the ability to research, prepare reports, policy documents presentations and to take accurate minutes.
  • Highly proficient computer skills, in particular MS Office Word, Excel, PowerPoint, data management systems, and database applications.
  • Demonstrated experience in financial administration.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a bachelor’s degree with extensive relevant executive administration experience; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
