Planning and Operations Manager

About the Role

Joining a newly formed team, and reporting to the Director, Market Insights, Analytics and Performance, the Planning and Operations Manager plays a central role within the Future Students and Marketing portfolio, enabling effective planning, coordination, and day-to-day operations across the function. ‘The position is a portfolio wide connector role, linking insights, planning and performance. You’ll set the rhythm, clarify priorities, surface risks and keep delivery momentum.

The role provides leadership in coordinating planning activities, overseeing performance and budget reporting, and supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives identified by the Director. By maintaining a strong operational focus and ensuring clear prioritisation, the Planning and Operations Manager helps align student recruitment and marketing activities across a broad and diverse portfolio of work.

Working closely with senior leaders, delivery teams, and internal and external stakeholders, the position promotes collaboration, efficiency, and consistency in ways of working. Through effective communication, governance, and coordination, the role supports the delivery of initiatives that create measurable business value and contribute to the strategic objectives of Swinburne University of Technology.

As a central enablement role within the department, the Planning and Operations Manager supports leaders and teams to plan, deliver, and monitor an integrated program of work that drives successful outcomes.

About You

To be suitable for this role you will need to have experience in the below key accountabilities: 

  • Demonstrable experience leading planning, coordination and operational delivery within a complex organization 
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams, competing priorities and dependencies while maintaining focus on agreed objectives and delivery timelines
  • Demonstrated capability in budget planning, monitoring and forecasting with an understanding of how to align resources to priorities and manage financial risk
  • Experience establishing and maintaining governance frameworks, reporting cycles and operational processes that support accountability and effective decision making
  • Proven ability to build productive relationships with senior leaders, delivery teams and external partners and to communicate clearly and confidently across diverse stakeholder groups.

Qualifications

Tertiary qualifications in Business/Marketing or relevant discipline and extensive relevant experience; or extensive experience and specialist expertise in marketing and planning operations
