OTIXEO Prevention Program Coordinator

Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Associate Vice President of Equal Opportunity Compliance Initiatives and Title IX Coordinator, the Prevention Program Coordinator serves as the administrator for training and prevention efforts for the Office of Title IX and Equal Opportunity. The Prevention Program Coordinator will contribute to the strategic vision of OTIXEO by bringing informative and engaging educational programs and solutions to the WesternU community at both the Pomona, CA and Lebanon, OR campuses to address and to prevent sexual harassment, other sexual misconduct, as well as sex, sexual orientation or gender identity-based discrimination and harassment. This role will also develop educational programs addressing harassment or discrimination on the basis of race, color, and national origin, as well as retaliation, bullying, and hazing.

As the subject matter expert and lead for the training and education function of OTIXEO, you will be responsible for applying a comprehensive understanding of the legal/regulatory compliance requirements and the University’s policies, procedures, and best practices, including outreach, training, and education to the campus community – faculty, staff, and students.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Exceptional interpersonal, communication, writing skills, strong conceptual, strategic planning and problem-solving skills; high level of organization; ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong computer skills and an aptitude for technology application, project management and process application and implementation.
  • Technically skilled with a depth of knowledge and practical application of employment laws, and in managing compliance of state and federal regulations.
  • Strong leadership, analytical and presentation skills;
  • Ability to stay current with laws, rules, and regulations related to civil rights compliance administration;
  • Advanced understanding of and sensitivity to meeting the needs of the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability status, gender identity, sexual orientation, and ethnic identities of the WesternU student, community, and employee populations.
  • Ability to strategically collaborate with the AVP to design a system of equal opportunity, Title IX, and civil rights compliance monitoring, technology, trend forecasting, and stakeholder collaboration.
  • Applicable sections of civil rights and violence prevention laws, including: California Fair Housing and Employment Act, Clery Act, Violence Against Women Act, Campus SaVE Act, Stop Campus Hazing Act, Americans with Disabilities Act, and the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA).
  • Strategies identifying and building cross-functional partnerships to understand challenges.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with relevant coursework in political science, social work, human resources, public policy human resources, business administration or equivalent experience.
  • A combination of experience/skills and education to fulfill the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position may be considered.
  • Two (2) years or more of related experience with trauma informed approaches to complaint resolution and/or training.
  • Public Speaking and/or training design and facilitation

Preferred Qualifications

  • Advanced Degree (such as a Master’s degree or higher in relevant field of study or Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from an accredited college or university) with relevant coursework in social work, human services, human resources, public policy or related field
