P/T Parking & Police Office Assistant (PPOA)
Position Announcement
Assists with daily parking and police operations and provides front line services. This includes reception duties (in-person, phone, email), providing exemplary customer service, and processing parking and police system data. Part-time hourly staff position working 25 - 29 hours per week during the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday.
Responsibilities
- Provide front desk reception by engaging with university employees, students, and the public in a friendly, professional, and respectful manner, always providing the highest ethical and quality service, and exercise conflict resolution when needed; answering phone calls, voicemails and emails, and walk-in questions.
- Assist and work collaboratively with Parking Manager and Assistant Manager maintaining and implementing effective parking practices and systems.
- Parking enforcement training - accurate and detailed ticket reporting, documentation, verification, follow-up, and data entry.
- Process parking pass requests, and assist with permit and citation administrative functions, and upkeep and maintenance of secure files, and other duties as assigned.
- Provide support to Parking Attendant/Security Officer staff.
- Assist with parking lot signage and closures; ability to operate fleet vehicles.
- Alert Parking Managers to account, system, or general issues.
- Assist and work collaboratively with Police Records Manager providing police services and maintaining effective practices and systems.
- Police services training - accurate and detailed documentation, verification, follow-up, and data entry.
- Assist police services with scheduling and performing fingerprint and criminal history appointments, notary appointments, and taking payment from customers on services rendered - Cash Handling training provided, lost and found property, supply management, and other duties as assigned.
- Alert Police Records Manager to account, system, or general issues.
- Uphold confidentiality with Utah Criminal Justice Information System (UCJIS), University platforms, and Parking and Police Management Systems.
- Assist with campus community events such as Welcome Back BBQ, Trailblazer Connections (Freshman), etc.; ability to operate fleet vehicles.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma required, some college coursework or post-secondary education preferred. Parking Enforcement, Criminal Justice, Emergency Services and/or Homeland Security background preferred. If a current student, must maintain at least a 2.5 GPA.
- Prior experience in customer service preferred.
- Driver's license required; fleet vehicle Defensive Driver training provided.
- Fingerprint background check required.
- Exercise good judgement, be trustworthy, ethical, and self-motivated with the ability to work independently and in a team environment.
- Good phone and reception etiquette with the ability to communicate with a high level of professionalism and confidentiality and exercise conflict resolution.
- Ability to concentrate on detailed projects while remaining flexible, proactive, and efficient.
- Knowledge of general office practices, procedures and office equipment.
- Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite, and attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and reports. Experience with Banner, Argos, and parking and police systems preferred.

POSITION DETAILS, COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS: Part-time hourly staff position working 25 - 29 hours per week during the hours of 9:00am - 5:00pm, Monday - Friday. Hourly rate of $16/hr.
