"Part-Time Career Placement Specialist"

Position Summary

Bergen Community College’s Continuing Education and Workforce Development division is seeking a Career Placement Specialist to assist students who have completed ESL for Healthcare, Phlebotomy, and EKG training programs in securing employment. This role involves developing relationships with healthcare employers, preparing students for the job market, and ensuring successful placements.

Responsibilities included but are not limited to:

• Develop and maintain partnerships with healthcare employers to create job opportunities for program graduates.
• Assist students in creating professional resumes and cover letters tailored to healthcare positions.
• Provide interview preparation, including mock interviews and coaching on professional communication.
• Match students with appropriate job openings and follow up on placement outcomes.
• Track and report employment placements, maintaining accurate student records, with a goal of approximately 30 placements by November 1.

SPECIAL SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Career Counseling, Human Resources, Education, Communications, or a related field preferred.

Experience: In career services, job placement, or workforce development, preferably in healthcare or education.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong networking skills and ability to build employer relationships.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and meet placement goals.
• Knowledge of resume writing, interview techniques, and job search strategies.
• Strong organizational and time-management skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database systems.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations, including ESL learners.

HOURLY RATE AND BENEFITS

• $30-$40/HR
