Part-Time Faculty - Emergency Medical Services Instructor
Basic Functions
This is a continuous recruitment for an applicant pool to fill part-time faculty (up to 67%) or temporary substitute assignments on an as needed basis.
We accept applications on a continual basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the pool of applications on file, as needed, to fill temporary assignments. Applicants will remain in the pool for 12 months.
Representative Duties
The teaching assignment may include (but is not limited to) classes in the following areas:
Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), Pre-Hospital Trauma Life Support (PHTLS), Heartsaver First Aid, and Stop the Bleed.
The instructor will provide lectures and labs to increase students' knowledge and competence of basic and advanced life support measures using aids, tools, and equipment according to the American Heart Association, National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians, and Stop the Bleed Training Standards.
Requirements
Any bachelor's degree AND two (2) years of professional experience, OR any associate degree and six (6) years of professional experience, or equivalent.
Required:
Current American Heart Association Instructor certification in any BLS, ACLS, and PALS or current certification from the National Association of Emergency Medical Technicians in PHTLS.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Current certification as an EMT or current licensure as a Paramedic. For Advanced level courses (ACLS and PALS) minimum of paramedic or equivalent.
Minimum of two (2) years work experience in pre-hospital or hospital settings.
Associates, bachelors or masters degree in emergency medical services, nursing, or other closely related field.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
