Portland Community College is accepting applications to be considered for Part-Time Faculty assignments in Women's and Gender Studies. The Department will review applications in this pool as the need arises for new part-time faculty in this area.
This is NOT an announcement of a specific open position, but a Part-time Faculty Interest Pool, from which the department will identify applicants based on course assignment needs during the Academic Year. Your application may be considered for substitute assignments as well as full term class assignments.

Instructor Qualifications
- Master’s degree, or PhD, in Women’s Studies, Feminist Studies, or Gender Studies
- OR Master’s degree in any field + 30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Women’s Studies
- OR Master’s degree in any field + 1-15 quarter hours of graduate credit in Women’s Studies + Experience as a lead instructor for at least 4 introductory college-level Women’s Studies courses
- OR Master’s degree in any field + 15-30 quarter hours of graduate credit in Women’s Studies + Experience as a lead instructor for at least 2 introductory college-level Women’s Studies courses
For WS 202 only:
- Any of the above OR Master’s degree in any field + 5 years of experience in women’s, gender or sexuality-focused community organizing which included leading or facilitating trainings
Accounting for the interdisciplinary nature of the discipline of Women’s and Gender Studies, graduate courses taken in other disciplines with a focus on women are also acceptable. For example: Women in History, Sociology of Gender, Black Feminist Theory. Graduate courses with the following words in the title may be counted toward the quarter hour requirement: women, gender, feminism, queer, sex/sexuality, Latina, masculinity, transgender.

Part-time Faculty Compensation at PCC
Newly hired Part-time Faculty at PCC will generally start at Step 1 of the current salary schedule. Hourly rates are determine based upon the type of course taught (Lecture, Lab, or Lecture/Lab).
