Location: Syracuse, NY

Pay Range: $1,440 - $1,550 per credit hour

Pay Determination: Salary offers at Syracuse University will be based on education, experience, and relevant skills, as well as the academic or professional discipline of the position in the context of the home department, school, or college. Salary offers may also be influenced by prior relevant work or industry experience, where applicable. Faculty pay ranges are for 8.5 months salary unless otherwise specified.

FLSA Status: Exempt

Hours: Spring 2026 Semester. Class meets Mondays/Wednesdays 3:45pm-5:05pm. Office hours required.

Job Description:

The S.I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University is seeking an individual to teach TRF 200 ST: Foundational Skills in Production on Mondays/Wednesdays 3:45pm-5:05pm during the Spring 2026 semester (3 credits).

Course Description: TRF 200 is an introductory-level course with emphasis on three different areas of production skill: Cinematography, Sound Acquisition and Editing and Picture Editing.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree required; masters degree is preferred.
  • Preference is given to applicants with previous experience teaching at the university level.

Job Specific Qualifications:

  • Significant experience in cinematography, sound, and editing.

Responsibilities:

It is understood that teaching assignments may include the following:

  • Developing a syllabus.
  • Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
  • Preparing for classes.
  • Holding office hours each week to meet with students in the class and others.
  • Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course; and turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to instruct the class on the days and times it is designated to meet.
  • Ability to hold office hours on campus.
  • Ability to grade all assignments and examinations.

Tools/Equipment:

  • Ability to operate standard classroom instructional technology, which may include computer, projector, document camera, etc.
