Job Description
The Healthcare Simulation Operator is a technical role within the Department of Nursing, reporting directly to the Lab Manager. This position provides essential technical and audio-visual support for simulation operations, ensuring the use of best practices to enhance student learning.
Non-Instructional Role Clarification- The position of Healthcare Simulation Operator is NOT a teaching, educational, or instructional position. In compliance with the Nevada State Board of Nursing an instructor must have a minimum of a Master's Degree in Nursing to teach. Operators are not permitted to provide any clinical instruction, evaluate student performance, provide clinical feedback, or teach clinical content.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Technical Operations: Operate and maintain a wide range of high-fidelity simulators and healthcare simulation equipment
- Software Management: Utilize and troubleshoot simulation software such as Laerdal LLEAP, SimCapture, KBPort, Sim2Gro, and SimX VR.
- Scenario Preparation: Program requested healthcare simulations and prepare the physical environment, including the application of moulage to manikins to enhance realism.
- Best Practices: Align all simulation practices with the International Nursing Association for Clinical Simulation and Learning (INACSL) Healthcare Simulation Standards of Best Practice (HSSOBP).
- Operational Support: Assist with the pre-briefing and debriefing process by managing audio/visual equipment
- Maintenance & Inventory: Provide scheduled maintenance and maintain equipment checklists
- Communication: Act as a technical liaison for faculty and students, and communicate articulately with vendors and service providers regarding complex technical issues.
