General Information
The School of Communication at Chapman University seeks applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool for potential teaching opportunities in the following areas/disciplines:
- Communication Studies
- Strategic Communication
Appointments from the part-time pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, so applicants must be available at times on very short notice. The Fall term begins mid-August and ends late-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends mid-May.

The mission of the School of Communication is to educate and prepare students to obtain and evaluate information critically; to create, implement, and disseminate evidence-based messages; and to communicate ethically and appropriately with a variety of audiences in both personal and professional contexts. We aim to produce communication leaders who are aware of the importance of communication research, theories, and principles, and who are able to apply these to communicate effectively in an increasingly complex global communication environment.
The School of Communication has experienced a tremendous amount of growth in the past few years. Home to three undergraduate academic programs, a Master of Science in Strategic Communication, and a Ph.D. in Communication, the School of Communication continues to be considered a vibrant and innovative leader in the rapidly growing and critically important field of communication.
Qualifications
- Required - University teaching experience or related field experience
- Required - Ability to teach in-person on campus
- Preferred - Earned MA, MS, or Doctoral degree from an accredited institution in the subject area related to the position
- Preferred - Professional experience in media, public relations, or strategic communication

The pay range for course and course related work for this position is $46.85 per hour. This position is contingent on final budget approval. Successful completion of a background check is required for all selected candidates.
