Job Description
Searching for an undergraduate student researcher to work with various research activities involving mouse models, with a focus area of bone mechanotransduction. Primary work responsibilities would include:
- Managing and maintaining mouse colonies, including breeding and genotyping.
- Helping with dissection, sample preparation, developing slides and imaging. Training will be provided.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of experiments and animal data.
- Assisting with data analysis, image analyses using computer software and preparation of finite element models.
Important Considerations for the Role:
- Safety and Regulations: Strict adherence to animal safety standards and protocols is essential. Training in animal handling and care is provided.
- Teamwork and Communication: Working effectively as part of a research team is crucial, requiring good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Time Management and Organization: Efficiently managing time and prioritizing tasks is important, particularly for those balancing research with academic commitments.
- Learning and Development: The role provides opportunities to learn new skills and techniques. Motivated students may even have the chance to conduct independent research projects.
This is a part time position at 50% FTE (up to 20 hours/week).
Qualifications
Prior experience with rodents or lab work is often a plus, positions may also be available with no prior experience, with training provided.
