IRIS-CC is a Private Foundation that governs, directs, and manages the Institute for Research and Innovation in Life and Health Sciences in Central Catalonia. It is the result of a strategic alliance between 17 academic, healthcare, and social institutions in Central Catalonia and its area of influence.
The mission of IRIS-CC is to generate scientific knowledge in the life and health sciences, focused on people’s needs and on improving their quality of life; as well as to create an innovative ecosystem that promotes territorial development and provides the products and services demanded by society.
In August 2024, the Institute for Research and Innovation in Life and Health Sciences in Central Catalonia (IRIS-CC) received the "HR Excellence in Research" recognition from the European Commission. The "Human Resources Strategy for Researchers" is based on the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of Researchers. The implementation of HRS4R represents a quality seal demonstrating that the human resources policy of a research institution meets European standards.

Position
PART-TIME – Technician for the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit (Methodological Support) at the Institute for Research and Innovation in Life and Health Sciences in Central Catalonia (IRIS-CC).
We are looking for an experienced professional with a proven track record in applied statistics in biomedical research.
Reporting structure: Functionally reports to the Head of the Epidemiology and Biostatistics Unit at IRIS-CC. Organisationally reports to the Scientific Director of IRIS-CC.
The successful candidate will report to the Head of the Unit and provide methodological and statistical support to IRIS-CC researchers.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide statistical and methodological support for research projects, including study design, sample size calculation, statistical analysis plans, data analysis, interpretation, and presentation of results.
- Create, clean, restructure, and validate databases, including data collection design, analysis of missing data, variable creation, etc.
- Participate in team meetings.
- Collaborate with other national and international research groups on ongoing research projects.
- Participate in training activities.
Requirements
- University degree in Statistics, Mathematics, or another degree in Health Sciences.
- Experience in statistical analysis and knowledge of advanced statistical tools.
- Experience in biomedical research.
- Proficiency in the R statistical and data analysis software.
- Knowledge of other statistical software (SPSS, Stata, Python, etc.).
- Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
- Strong organisational skills.
- High level of Catalan and Spanish.
- Intermediate level of English.

Working Conditions
- 18.75 hours per week.
- Permanent contract.
- On-site position at the Faculty of Medicine of UVic-UCC (Vic, Barcelona).
- Possibility of travelling to the IRIS-CC founding institutions.
Reference Salary Scale
- Collective agreement of the Fundació Universitària Balmes (FUBalmes), UVic-UCC salary scales.
- PTGAS category: "Technician", with a salary proportional to the contracted working hours.
- Annual salary increase according to the CPI of the previous year.
