Collaborate on the research project “26I281 CITRUSAID - BIOTECHNOLOGICAL ENGINEERING IN CULTIVATED CITRUS SPECIES FOR MULTIPLE STRESS TOLERANCES AND IMPROVED NUTRACEUTICAL PROPERTIES”, under the direction and supervision of Vicente Arbona Mengual of the Department of Biology, Biochemistry and Natural Sciences as responsible for the contracting.
She will perform the functions of a Technologist or management personnel of group A.
Specific
The selected person will contribute to the development of innovative nanomaterial-based platforms for the transport of gene-editing molecules and RNA to citrus plants.
The main responsibilities include:
- Design, synthesis and functionalization of biocompatible nanoparticles for the transport of CRISPR/Cas molecules and RNA to plant cells.
- Preparation and characterization of nanomaterials intended for the transport of molecules.
- Physicochemical characterization of nanomaterials using appropriate analytical techniques.
- Evaluation of RNA loading, release kinetics, nanoparticle stability, and transport efficiency.
- Participation in the laboratory validation of new transport platforms for plant biotechnology applications.
- Collection, analysis and interpretation of experimental data.
- Preparation of technical reports, project deliverables and laboratory documentation.
- Collaboration with the research staff of the UJI and with the international partners of the consortium.

Skills/Qualifications
- Hold an official university degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology, Agri-food Engineering, or similar.
Specific Requirements
Possess a master's degree, or equivalent qualification, in one of the following areas:
- Materials Science.
- Nanotechnology.
- Chemistry.
- Chemical Engineering.
- Biotechnology.
- Plant biotechnology.
- A closely related discipline.
Experience in one or more of the following areas:
- Synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials or functional materials.
- Surface functionalization of nanoparticles.
- Colloidal systems and characterization of nanoparticles.
- Biomaterials, polymeric materials or cellulose-based materials.
- Laboratory techniques in molecular biology, RNA manipulation, or plant biotechnology.
- Characterization techniques using fluorescence, luminescence or optical methods.
- Experimental design and data analysis.
The following aspects will be especially valued:
- Experience working at the interface between materials science and life sciences.
- Knowledge of CRISPR/Cas technologies, RNA transport systems or plant transformation.
- Experience with microscopy and spectroscopy techniques for the characterization of nanomaterials.
- Previous participation in multidisciplinary or international research projects.
- Excellent level of written and spoken English.
