Patient Lift/Transfer Assoc
Characteristic Duties:
- Responsible for safely performing complex/dependent patient lifts, those with limited mobility, lifts/transfers using appropriate mechanical lifting equipment, following proper procedures and working collaboratively with Lift Team members.
- Utilizes patient handling equipment, transfer devices, and protective clothing in compliance with hospital policies and procedures, vendor specifications, and patient handling protocols.
Related Duties
- Properly utilizes patient handling and lift equipment
- Coordinates, inventories and maintains the necessary equipment for use in patient transfers, lifts and re-positioning
- Prioritizes and organizes requests through autonomous scheduling of pages/calls and interdisciplinary communication to ensure maximum efficiency and care for patients
- Participates in the orientation of new staff and ongoing education and training of lift equipment and transfer/re-positioning techniques
- Actively participates in QI monitoring and documentation of all patient lift activities
- Consults with Nursing and other patient care providers such as rehabilitation therapy staff in the development and implementation of lifting plans for patients
- Assists with building a culture of safety to support care givers and patients
- Cares for patients with compassion and dignity
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervisor
- Demonstrates effective use of stationary or mobile mechanical lifting equipment, uses a mechanical device for each lift/transfer and physical lifting techniques.
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two years work experience as a Nurses Aide, Patient Transporter, or other similar position involving patient movement
- Able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds and to lift, push and pull for an 8 hour shift
- CPR certification
- Demonstrate expertise to safely perform patient lifts and transfers using lift equipment
- Expected behaviors include: independent decision making skills, customer focus, teamwork, adaptability to change and stressful situations, problem solving and strong verbal and written communication
Work Schedule:
Work Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm
Work Days: Saturday-Wednesday
40 hours per week
