Speech Pathologist II
This is an inpatient position within Saint Francis/St Mary's hospitals Rehabilitation Services department.
The Staff Speech Pathologist (Speech Pathologist 2) reports to the Clinical Supervisor and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The Staff Speech Pathologist works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds. The Staff Speech Pathologist with specific pediatric competencies and clinical experience may also work with infants, children and/or adolescents. Under general direction and upon receipt of licensed approved provider written referrals, the Staff Speech Pathologist plans and administers a full range of speech and dysphagia therapy services for patients with a variety of physical and cognitive impairments. Services include patient evaluations using speech-language pathology tests and measurements, establishment of therapeutic intervention goals and the development of therapeutic intervention programs, and implementation of therapeutic intervention plans utilizing all aspects of the speech-language pathology scope of practice. The Staff Speech Pathologist demonstrates practice competence with patients of varying complexity and clinical presentation across levels of acuity. The Staff Speech Pathologist may seek mentoring for novel clinical presentations or areas of specialty practice for which the Staff Speech Pathologist is not experienced or certified.
The Staff Speech Pathologist maintains all applicable patient records related to the delivery of patient care services, is organized in work habits, and demonstrates effective time management skills. While performing job duties, the Staff Speech Pathologist may also supervise Speech Pathology Students, Speech Pathology Clinical Fellows, and Rehabilitation Aides. The Staff Speech Pathologist participates in regular professional and clinical development activities, completing 40 hours or more per year. As a member of the clinical care team, the Staff Speech Pathologist also participates in and may lead compliance, quality, safety, and process improvement initiatives in the department, local care setting, and organization.
The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $55.84 - $75.16 (Hourly Rate).
