Physical Therapy Assistant
The Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) 2 reports to the Clinical Supervisor, Physical Therapy and provides both direct and indirect patient care services. The PTA works primarily with adult and geriatric patients from diverse socioeconomic and cultural backgrounds, although pediatric and adolescent patients may also be treated if the PTA's competency includes these populations. The PTA II demonstrates knowledge within a wide range of diagnoses including general medicine, orthopedics, neurology, and cardiopulmonary in the adult and/or pediatric setting. Under general clinical supervision of a Physical Therapist, the PTA assists the Physical Therapist with standard and more complex patient care activities and performs physical therapy procedures and modalities as identified in the patient's Physical Therapy plan of care. The PTA completes chart reviews of assigned patients to gather information relevant to clinical care. Without need for prior verbal instruction, the PTA independently initiates and follows the therapeutic intervention plan developed by the physical therapist. The PTA maintains all applicable patient records related to their delivery of patient care services. While performing job duties, the PTA may also delegate portions of a patient's therapeutic intervention to PTA students. The Physical Therapist Assistant 2 actively participates in departmental and organizational programs, including process improvement activities, clinical education programs, and in services and staff development activities. The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy. Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement. The salary range for this position is $44.90 - $55.94 (Hourly Rate).
