PDRA in Electrochemical Materials and Devices for Solar Fuels
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral researcher to join our team working on the groundbreaking EU Horizon SUNPEROM project at UCL. You will play a central role in developing a revolutionary integrated device that converts atmospheric CO₂ directly into methanol using only sunlight, under ambient conditions. You will be at the heart of developing and characterizing novel electrode materials and scalable fabrication processes for a multifunctional Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL), a core component of the SUNPEROM tandem device. Your work will bridge materials chemistry, electrochemistry, and device engineering, contributing to a technology with the potential to redefine sustainable fuel production. You will work within a world-leading, interdisciplinary consortium of European universities and SMEs. This is a full-time appointment for a period of two years continuously, available from 1st of November 2025. The role offers ample networking and collaboration opportunities within UCL and with leading international partners across Europe. You will hold a PhD in Chemistry / Electrochemistry / Materials Sci./Eng./ Chemical Engineering / Physics or relevant related discipline. You will also have demonstrable experimental experience in electrochemistry, specifically in electrode fabrication, electrochemical testing (e.g., CV, LSV, EIS), and product analysis (e.g., GC, HPLC).
