Senior Lecturer in Education (Curriculum Specialist - Science)

The Role

In this role you will join our team of committed academics who enable students to transform lives through their teaching practice. You will route lead our Secondary PGCE in Science, educating new teachers to become highly proficient, future-orientated practitioners. With your fellow route and curriculum leads, you will deliver teacher education programmes across all age-phases. The role also includes supervision of students in practice placements.

The Person

You are an inspirational teacher who is passionate about science. You’ve taught in secondary schools and held leadership roles in the subject. You have a deep understanding of science education and a proven track-record as a practitioner. You are determined to make an impact on policy and practice in the field. You are currently, or keen to become, a research and knowledge exchange engaged academic. You will contribute new knowledge to the field of education through your research and scholarly activity and, in turn, enhance students' learning and practice. You are also someone who relishes the opportunity to undertake a wider area of responsibility in the Department.

Applicants will be required to demonstrate that they meet the Kingston University standards in learning and teaching, and research. By the end of the probation period, you must have achieved the relevant level of UKPSF recognition (if this has not already been obtained). For those new to teaching, this will be through our accredited Introduction to Learning and Teaching and for those experienced in teaching, through our Kingston Academic Practice Standards Framework.

The Faculty

Individualisation is very important to us at Kingston University’s School of Education, Midwifery and Social Work. For our students that means a philosophy where we go above and beyond to deliver learning that draws on a variety of technologies and approaches that develop the very best practitioners of tomorrow.
