Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine Physician
The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is recruiting a Pediatric Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine Physician to join our growing team. We are looking for candidates with a track record of clinical excellence and academic contributions as demonstrated through training and/or practice experience.
This position is full or part-time, 50%-100%. This position requires work to be completed onsite, at a designated campus work location. Contact with vulnerable populations that are non-minors: This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years. Applicants for this position will be considered for the titles: Associate Professor (CHS), or Assistant Professor (CHS). The title is determined by the experience and qualifications of the finalist.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Participate in clinical teaching of fellows, residents, and medical students, and support the teaching and clinical research missions of the division and department.
- Physicians hired on the Clinical Health Sciences (CHS) track will participate in administrative and committee work to support the clinical and scholarly missions of UW Health and the School of Medicine and Public Health. An essential part of these duties will be working in a collegial relationship with other faculty members.
- Clinical expectations include providing clinical care to pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine patients in an outpatient and inpatient setting as well as participate in the coverage of sleep-related consultations and interpretations of sleep studies.

The Department of Pediatrics at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health is a vibrant academic department comprising more than 200 faculty members in 16 subspecialty divisions. The Division of Pulmonology & Sleep Medicine is focused on improving the health of children with lung diseases and breathing and sleep disorders. Its doctors are specialists who diagnose and treat patients with a wide range of respiratory conditions, from chronic cough and the most severe cases of COVID-19 to lifelong disorders including cystic fibrosis, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, and pulmonary hypertension. Division members provide family-centered, community-based, culturally competent, coordinated, and interdisciplinary care. The multidisciplinary clinical team includes physicians, nurse practitioners, nurses, pharmacists, psychologists, social workers, dietitians, and respiratory therapists. The division has a robust outpatient pediatric sleep program and a sleep laboratory in which to perform polysomnography and treat children with a variety of sleep-related problems. The division also has active clinical and research programs in cystic fibrosis, neuromuscular respiratory disease, aerodigestive issues, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, interstitial lung disease, and pulmonary hypertension. The division staffs one of the top cystic fibrosis centers in the nation and is part of the Cystic Fibrosis Therapeutic Development Network.
Required Qualifications:
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatrics through the American Board of Pediatrics or equivalent is required by appointment start date.
- Board certified or board eligible in Sleep Medicine is required by the appointment start date.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Sleep Medicine is required by the appointment start date.
- Completion of an ACGME-approved pediatric residency program is required.
- The candidate is required to have a Wisconsin medical license by the appointment start date.
- Must be eligible for enrollment as a billing provider and for all necessary hospital privileges by the appointment start date.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Board certified or board eligible in Pediatric Pulmonology is preferred by the appointment start date.
- Completion of an accredited fellowship program in Pediatric Pulmonology is preferred by the appointment start date.
- For an appointment as an Associate Professor on the CHS track, candidates will meet criteria established by the department and as outlined in the School of Medicine and Public Health guidelines for promotion or appointment to Associate Professor on the CHS track.
Education: MD, DO, or equivalent is required.
