Your Role on the Team
Position Summary: Under the direction of the Emergency Medicine Pharmacist/Residency Program Director, the incumbent rotates through the different areas of the Pharmacy learning: patient care, medication management across the continuum of care, , general staff Pharmacist duties including coverage of staffing shifts, and administrative functions, with the focus on the care of patients with emergency medicine. The incumbent will actively participate as an integral member of interdisciplinary teams caring for patients who present to the emergency department. This will include code blue resuscitation, code stroke, trauma activations, and cardiac resuscitation where the resident will 1) make clinical decisions with the interdisciplinary team and 2) provide pharmaceutical knowledge for decision making affecting the care of this patients. The resident will also participate in emergency department quality and safety projects. The resident will be expected to participate in emergency and pharmacy department education activities as determined by the emergency medicine pharmacy team. The residency starts and ends in July.
What It Takes to be Successful
Required Qualifications:
- Must be eligible for, and obtain, CA Pharmacist license within four months of residency employment
- Current BLS or ACLS upon hire
- Completion of PGY1 pharmacy practice residency
