PharmD Pathways Program Coordinator

Summary of Position:
The PharmD Pathways Program Coordinator is a half-time position responsible for the successful development and implementation of the PharmD Pathways Program, a strategic initiative designed to increase awareness, access, and preparedness for pharmacy careers among middle school, high school, and undergraduate students. The PharmD Pathways Program Coordinator reports to the Assistant Dean of Student Affairs, is a member of the Office of Admissions within the Division of Student Affairs in the College of Pharmacy, and also works closely with the Associate Dean for Community, Advocacy, Resilience, and Empowerment (C.A.R.E.) and other members of the grant oversight team. Additionally, this individual will collaborate closely with the Recruiting Coordinator to ensure that Pathway Program activities are well aligned with overall recruiting efforts for the PharmD program. This is a three-year position funded by a grant from the McKesson Foundation.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
50% Program Development and Coordination
● Lead the planning and execution of all PharmD Pathways Program activities, including at least 15 outreach events annually, reaching an anticipated 300 students.
● Coordinate the flagship PhaRx (Pharmacy Readiness and Exploration) Immersion Program, a week-long summer program for high school students. This includes managing logistics, recruitment, curriculum development, and student support.
● Lead and coordinate the Pathways Program workgroup, promoting collaboration between program faculty, staff, and collaborators to develop and execute program activities.
● Collaborate with the Duluth Promise initiative partners, including local schools, colleges, and the city of Duluth, to facilitate coordinated activities and programming
● Schedule and oversee in-person and virtual classroom visits, presentations, and hands-on workshops on topics like pharmacy career exploration and preparation for pharmacy school at identified schools.
● Organize and manage site visits to local healthcare organizations and pharmacy practice sites.
25% Stakeholder Engagement and Outreach
● Expand and nurture relationships with specific partner institutions including local and regional middle schools, high schools, colleges, and community organizations.
25% Program Administration and Evaluation
● Collaborate with the CRM (Customer Relationship Management) and Data Manager to develop and maintain system for tracking program participants and activities
● Manage the program budget
● Create program communications including webpages, recruiting materials, flyers, newsletters, etc.
● Conduct ongoing evaluation to assess program effectiveness and meet grant reporting requirements
● Provide regular reports and program updates to college leadership, grant workgroup members, and the funding organization

Work arrangements:
This position will be primarily based on the Duluth campus with frequent regional travel in Minnesota and the surrounding area. The position is eligible for a partially remote arrangement through the University’s Work. With Flexibility program, as events and activities allow. Hours are generally 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend hours. Periodic travel to the other campuses is also expected.
Working Conditions:
This role includes work in a general office setting as well as regular travel in Minnesota and the surrounding region. This travel may involve extended periods of standing, walking, and carrying/transporting materials for workshops and recruiting events.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
● Bachelor’s degree plus at least four years of relevant experience, or master’s degree plus at least two years of relevant experience
● Knowledge typically acquired through experience in admissions, recruiting, project management, or other related experience
● A valid driver’s license*
*Note: The nature of this role requires frequent travel to locations without access to public transit, so a valid driver’s license is necessary. Fleet and/or rental vehicles are available for travel required in this role.

About the Department

The College of Pharmacy offers degrees in the programs of pharmacy (PharmD, MS, PhD), occupational therapy (OTD), and medical laboratory sciences (BS, Certificate, MMLS, MS-BLS).
The pharmacy program is offered on the Twin Cities and Duluth campuses. The occupational therapy program is offered on the Twin Cities and Rochester campuses. The medical laboratory sciences program is offered on the Twin Cities campus. Interactive technology is used to keep all campuses connected.
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $28.75 - $30.75 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience
Time Appointment: 50% Appointment
