Traditionally Monday-Friday, 7:00 am to 3:30 pmOne position available with the potential to be filled at any of the listed levels consistent with the selected applicant's experience. Levels include: Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair or Senior Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair.
Salary:
Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair $24.85 starting/$26.16 working; Senior Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair $26.85 starting/$28.19 workingTravel:
No travelBrief Statement of Duties:
Under general supervision, provide skills and engage in technical maintenance repair and renovation work in and around university buildings.Minimum Qualifications:
- Required Education: High School Graduation or Equivalent
- Required Specialized Training/Certifications: For Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair and Senior Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair: Current journeyman plumber license in the State of Michigan. Current and valid motor vehicle operator's license. For Senior: Current Approved/Certified Backflow Preventer Assemblies Tester in the State of Michigan. Special training in steam trap surveying, testing utilizing diagnostic equipment, and repairing.
- Required Minimum Work Experience: For Plumber/Pipefitter/HVAC Repair: Two years of experience in the plumbing or pipefitting trade. For Senior: Five years of experience in the plumbing or pipefitting trade.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, or Attributes Required:
- KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of relevant plumbing, pipefitting, and HVAC systems; building and construction materials; plumbing codes; general knowledge of building structural and electrical systems; working knowledge of computer applications.
- SKILLS: Equipment operation monitoring, troubleshooting; strong oral and written communication; critical thinking; interpersonal and organizational skills; customer service.
- ATTRIBUTES: Physically capable; willingness to conduct training; mechanical aptitude; conscientious; team player; reliable.
Additional Desirable Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Building Automation Systems.
- Experience with centrifugal chillers, steam absorption chillers, and/or cooling towers.
- Experience in leading, directing, training, and supervising employees.
- EPA certified for Type II, III, IV or universal refrigerants.
