About the Job
Essential responsibilities:
- Maintain wild type and genetically modified primary human and animal cells/tissues
- Develop and evaluate experimental guinea pig and mouse models of viral infection and placental/fetal development
- Collection and analysis of experimental animal’s organs and tissues
- Bacterial and viral cultivations, titrations, gene cloning and manipulations
- Perform all phases of experimental investigations in consultation with the faculty advisor(s)
- Develop and in vitro characterize recombinant viruses and viral vector-based vaccines
- Prepare manuscripts/abstracts and presentation based on research findings
- Provide guidance to laboratory staff including undergraduate students, graduate students and technicians
Qualifications
Required qualifications: Ph.D.
Preferred Qualifications: Prior research experience in molecular biology and laboratory animal handling preferred
Essential skills: Good verbal and written communication skills; Excellent organizational and record keeping skills; Teamwork/collaborative spirits; Good knowledge in molecular/placental biology, virology, immunology, and vaccinology; Viral infection of primary cells, cell lines, and animals (mice and guinea pigs); Good working knowledge of flow cytometry, immunofluorescence staining and confocal microscopy, RNA/DNA isolation and qPCR, ELISA, western blot, immunoprecipitation, RNA-seq, transfection, gene knockdown/knockout or overexpression; Experience with immunohistopathology and immunohistochemistry; Molecular cloning skills; Cell culturing skills; Small laboratory animal handling skills
Pay and Benefits
Pay Range: $61,008.00 - $65,000.00; depending on education/qualifications/experience
