Job Description Summary: The Post Doctoral Fellow in the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Nephrology will work in a research laboratory focusing on kidney and vascular disease-related outcomes research. Research activities will center on the study of hypertension, kidney disease, diabetes, and other cardio-renal risk factors and their impact on cognitive function, brain health, and quality of life in older adults. This position will encompass clinical, epidemiological, and translational research.
Job Duties Outlined:
Research Overview: Design and conduct research studies and interpret data under the mentorship of the Principal Investigator (PI).
- Work independently and collaboratively on research projects.
- Participate in the design and execution of observational studies, clinical trials, and implementation research related to vascular and kidney disease.
- Conduct data collection, management, and analysis using clinical and population-based datasets.
- Contribute to the development of study protocols, manuals of procedures, and regulatory documentation.
- Assist with preparation of grant proposals and scientific manuscripts.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date research documentation in accordance with study and institutional requirements.
Expectations: The Post Doctoral Fellow will be expected to complete research projects under the guidance of the faculty mentor; analyze and interpret study results; prepare publication-quality manuscripts, including tables and figures; and publish findings in peer-reviewed journals.
- Review and synthesize relevant scientific literature to inform study design and interpretation.
- Develop research questions and contribute to study design and analytic strategies.
- Engage regularly with the PI, faculty mentors, and research team to discuss study progress, design considerations, and interpretation of results.
- Present research aims and findings at departmental seminars and at local and national scientific meetings.
- Prepare abstracts, posters, and manuscripts as first author when appropriate.
Compliance: Attend and maintain compliance with all required University and Department orientation and training sessions; adhere to IRB, data security, and research compliance requirements; and participate in departmental seminars and regular research meetings.

Required Qualifications
Education: PhD or equivalent experience in public health, psychology, dementia, geriatrics, hypertension, kidney disease, or other health-related field.

Compensation Statement: The pay range listed for this position is determined by our compensation program using market data and salary benchmarking. A combination of factors is considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, education, experience and training, qualifications relative to the requirements of the position, and funding. At the University of Kansas Medical Center, a reasonable estimate for the starting pay range will be the minimum to midpoint of the posted range, taking into account the combination of factors listed above.
Pay Range: $58,656.00 - $80,000.00 (Minimum $58,656.00, Midpoint $69,328.00, Maximum $80,000.00)
