"Postdoc Science during Crises"

Job Summary: Scientific advice plays a key role in decision-making for preventing and combating crises, while the role of science is a subject of public debate. This position involves questions about integrating insights from various scientific disciplines and making science responsive to societal issues. The role is at the Healthcare Governance section of Erasmus School of Health Policy & Management (ESHPM) at Erasmus University Rotterdam.

Responsibilities: Work on projects related to science and crisis management for at least two years. Contribute to projects of the Pandemic and Disaster Preparedness Centre (PDPC), conduct ethnographic research on knowledge integration in the ZonMw-funded Unity project, and contribute to the PDPC frontrunner project on pandemic lessons for flood disasters. Collaborate with a team of researchers, coordinate research tasks, supervise master students, and produce both scientific and societally oriented outputs.

Qualifications and Requirements: You must have a PhD in science and technology studies or a related field, experience with transdisciplinary work, ability to work well in a team, strong presentation skills in both written and oral forms for various audiences and in Dutch and English, and some experience in supervising students.

What the Employer Offers: An internationally oriented and varied job in an enthusiastic team with excellent working conditions according to the Collective Labour Agreement for Dutch Universities (CAO NU). The position starts on 01-NOV-2025, with a full-time salary between €4,537 and €6,209 gross per month (scale 11). The contract is for 2 years with possible extension, based at Campus Woudestein in Rotterdam.
