"Postdoctoral Fellowship in Physics (Prof. Pilkyung Moon)"

Prof. Pilkyung Moon’s group at NYU Shanghai invites applications for one Postdoctoral Research Fellow position in condensed matter theory. Those interested in the theoretical investigation of the electronic structures and physical properties of low-dimensional nanostructures, such as graphene superlattices, moiré superlattices, quasicrystals, and nanotubes are encouraged to apply.

The Postdoctoral Fellow’s responsibilities will include:

• Carrying out research with Prof. Pilkyung Moon in the general area of hard condensed matter physics
• Applying for research grants
• Training and supervising students

Appointments will be made for two years, renewable for successive years under mutual agreement. The position will start as soon as possible and be based in Shanghai, China. The appointment start date for non-Chinese applicants is subject to immigration regulations.

Terms of employment at NYU Shanghai are comparable to NYU New York and other U.S. institutions.

Qualifications:

• Ph.D. in physics, material sciences, or related area
• Analytical and/or computational experiences in low-dimensional nanostructures are preferred
• Knowledge in theoretical condensed matter physics is required
• Candidates must be within three years of their PhD degree conferral when their fellowship starts at NYU Shanghai

Interested applicants are asked to submit the following materials: (i) curriculum vitae (noting a list of publications); (ii) a brief statement of research; (iii) electronic copies of up to five relevant publications; (iv) 1-2 page research proposal; and (v) a cover letter addressing their interest in the group.
