Position Highlights
The Materials Science and Engineering (MSE) Department is seeking a Postdoctoral Research Associate to perform research on semiconductor devices for next-generation computing, including quantum emitters and neuromorphic transistors. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in solid-state physics, electronic materials, or device fabrication and characterization along with experience in nanofabrication, electrical or optical measurements, advanced microscopy and 2D materials.

Duties & Responsibilities
Duties and Responsibilities
Research and scholarly activities:
- Conduct independent and collaborative research.
- Design experiments, develop models, and analyze results.
- Maintain accurate records of methods, data, and results.
- Present findings at internal group/project meetings.
Publication and dissemination:
- Prepare high-quality manuscripts for major peer-reviewed journals.
- Contribute to conference presentations.
- Assist with progress reports.
Mentorship:
- Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in research projects.
- Provide training on experiments, simulations, and data analysis.
- Support the development of lab protocols, workflows and best practices.
Grant and proposal development:
- Contribute to writing grant proposals.
- Identify new funding opportunities.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Electrical and optical measurement skills.
- Knowledge of semiconductor device fabrication and characterization.
- Knowledge of solid-state physics and materials science.
- Skill in nanofabrication and cleanroom techniques.
- Ability to complete data analysis and programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB).
- Knowledge of 2D materials and quantum device.
- Collaboration and interdisciplinary research abilities.
Minimum Qualifications
- PhD degree in Materials, Science and Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Physics. Must be conferred before start date.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in semiconductor device fabrication and characterization.
- Experience in nanofabrication and cleanroom techniques.
