Job Description:

Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee daily operations of Print Services, ensuring timely and accurate completion of print jobs. Serve as the primary point of contact for Print Services clients, addressing inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and efficient manner. Schedule all work into the print shop, controlling the workload and maintaining a synchronized production schedule.
  • Responsible for full quality control of all finished products by implementing appropriate quality control standards for layout, document preparation, alignment, legibility, and control of print density. Serves as the final quality assurance approver before products are delivered to the end user.
  • Implement and maintain operational procedures to improve efficiency and quality. Utilize and optimize the online ordering portal, Marketplace Digital Storefront.
  • Monitor inventory levels of media, toner, and other supplies, and place orders for replacements as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues; submit service calls and coordinate with vendors for necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Stay updated on new printing technologies and industry standards by participating in in-house print professional organizations, attending workshops and conferences, networking with peer institutions, self-directed professional reading and technical training on all print shop equipment.
  • Explore and research new revenue streams and services. Recommend equipment upgrades or replacements when necessary.
  • Comply with and enforce written safety and evacuation procedures to reduce the potential for worker injury or damage to equipment.
  • Collaborate with customers to determine the most effective media for achieving the desired outcome. Work with paper, foamcore, and coroplast. Provide expert guidance on print options, media selection, and finishing techniques.
  • Assist customers in compliance with copyright laws and brand guidelines.
  • Assist in developing and managing the Print Services budget by monitoring expenditures, tracking costs, and identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Provide accurate and timely reports monthly, quarterly, and as assigned.
  • Train, assign work to, and supervise student employees assigned to the Print Shop.
  • Contribute to the overall success of Receiving & Print Services by performing other essential job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Supervision Received:

Functional supervision is received from the Assistant Manager of Auxiliary Services. Administrative supervision is received from the Vice President of Administrative Affairs.

Supervision Exercised:

Occasional supervision of students assigned to Print Services.

Requirements:

Qualifications and Working Conditions:

  • An Associate's degree in graphic design, print production, or a related field or an equivalent combination of training and experience from which comparable knowledge and abilities can be acquired, is required.
  • Three years of experience operating digital print equipment, finishing equipment, and digital printing systems is required.

Required Skills

  • Strong knowledge of printing processes, materials, equipment, and software.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and print management software.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Exceptional customer service skills.
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical issues and perform basic equipment maintenance.
  • A strong understanding of paper and bindery options.
  • The ability to convert multiple page layouts from reader spreads to printer spreads.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills required. Excellent interpersonal skills are required.

Preferred Skills

  • Budget management experience is a plus.
  • A basic understanding of graphic design software, such as Adobe Illustrator.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Manual dexterity to operate printing and finishing equipment.

Additional Information:

Salary Range: $51,982-$55,942

HOURS: Monday - Friday 7:45 am - 4:30 pm

Based on the needs of the college and with Administrator approval, some positions at the college may have a hybrid schedule option available after 30 working days.
