Department Summary

Within the College of Arts and Sciences, Psychology is one of the largest departments supporting significant instructional and research activities in a wide range of fields within the discipline. The Department enrolls about 1,900 students per term, with approximately 300 undergraduate Psychology majors, and 80 doctoral students.

The Department includes approximately 35 teaching faculty, emeriti faculty, research staff, graduate students, and professional/administrative staff. For more information on the Department, visit https://psychology.uoregon.edu/.

Position Summary

The Department of Psychology at the University of Oregon seeks a pool of applicants interested in Pro Tem Instructor positions to teach undergraduate and graduate courses. Positions are temporary, intermittent, or of limited duration; not to exceed one year. In limited circumstances, there may be a possibility of renewal up to three years depending on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

Instructional areas may include introductory psychology, research methods, thinking, cognition, clinical psychology, clinical practica (Oregon psychology licensure required), or development.

Successful candidates will share the Department of Psychology's commitment to an inclusive environment and to work effectively with students, faculty, and staff from diverse backgrounds.

Minimum Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology or closely related field.

  • Cross-cultural communication skills.
  • Commitment to an inclusive environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • University-level teaching experience.
  • Ph.D in Psychology or a closely related field.
  • Experience with different teaching strategies and learning styles.
